NORMAL – Normal Police Chief Rick Bleichner says the man police took into custody has been taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
The suspect is alleged to have been throwing items at motorists in the area.
The man pleaded at police to shoot him and had a firearm, according to Bleichner.
It turned out to be a “look-alike” firearm.
The intersection is reopening now.
No injuries were reported.
