NORMAL – Masks are no longer required in Illinois schools, and the leader of McLean County’s largest school district says the transition has gone smoothly.
Unit 5 Superintendent Dr. Kristen Weikle spoke with WJBC’s Scott Miller.
“When we initially made the change to mask recommended there is always a period of transition where families and staff have to decide for themselves what is best for them and their family,” said Weikle. “There was also an announcement over the weekend that masks are no longer required on buses.”
Weikle says students and staff should feel comfortable wearing a mask if they wish to do so.
She says the district will continue to monitor COVID-19 numbers and work with community partners as the pandemic continues.
