IEA survey shows Illinoisans support education

SPRINGFIELD – Survey says: Illinoisans support education.

The Illinois Education Association’s annual “State of Education” says people want more money put into education. Union president Kathi Griffin says if you want to see the real priorities, look at the budget:

“We do value public education,” Griffin told an online news conference Wednesday. “We know when kids receive a quality public education, it will help the state in so many ways down the road. They are our future, and that’s not just a saying; it’s the truth. So let’s make sure that we put our budget in the right place and make sure that all of our students receive a quality education and can become productive citizens of this state.”

There’s also the issue of teacher burnout. And Griffin says there are twice as many job openings as there were five years ago.
