Illinois gas prices inch down over the week

BLOOMINGTON – Gas prices in Illinois are averaging $4.50 a gallon, down about seven cents over the week, according to GasBuddy.

The cheapest station in the state is $3.84 while the most expensive is $5.29, according to GasBuddy price reports.

Gas price in Illinois are 80 cents higher than a month ago and $1.47 higher than a year ago.

The national average has fallen nine cents over the week, averaging $4.23 a gallon.

“GasBuddy, last week, predicted that a top was in for the national average price of gasoline, and indeed, for the first time in 12 weeks, the national average price of gasoline has declined. While the decline is still subject to changes in global supply and demand, Covid and Russia’s war on Ukraine, we are poised to see additional downdrafts at the pump this week in most areas,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
