TAZEWELL COUNTY – A woman and a teenage girl from Minnesota died in a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) crash over the weekend in rural Tremont.

On Saturday, Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Townline and Locust Roads.

Around 6:00 p.m., Coroner Hanley pronounced Ashley Embree, 22, and Sarae Embee, 16, of Pequot Lakes, Minnesota, dead at the scene.

According to a release, the sisters were passengers in a UTV that collided with a pickup truck.

Preliminary autopsy reports determined multiple blunt force injuries caused the deaths.

Toxicology results are pending, and the case remains under investigation by the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois State Police, and the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office.

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
