WOODFORD COUNTY – Illinois State Police are releasing the identification of a 24-year old East Peoria man who died in a crash last Tuesday in Woodford County.
Last Tuesday morning, ISP reports Kenneth Brinkley, 25, of Spring Bay, Illinois, was driving Ryan Pitts, 25, of East Peoria in a Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV).
According to a release, Brinkly struck a Woodford County squad car in an earlier crash near Santa Fe Trail and Spring Bay Road.
Police say Brinkley allegedly fled the scene with Pitts in the passenger seat.
Moments later, the UTV was found overturned in Hillside and Mile Tree Road.
Brinkly was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries, where he was then arrested for aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol.
Police say Pitts died in the accident.
The accident remains under investigation.
