NORMAL – After more than 10,000 people gathered Tuesday night to welcome home Leah Marlene, Normal Police are thanking the community and other agencies for a “safe, fun, and enjoyable” event.
According to a NPD Facebook post, several agencies assisted at the event in Uptown Normal. That includes Normal Fire, Bloomington Police, Peoria Police, Illinois State Police, the McLean County Emergency Management Agency, and the Town of Normal’s Civic Arts staff.
The town had just two days to plan for the event which included a parade, proclamation from the mayor, and concert in Uptown Normal.
Marlene, a Normal West High School graduate, will compete in the ‘American Idol’ finale this Sunday at 7 p.m.
