BLOOMINGTON – An early morning fire Monday left three vehicles and an apartment building damaged in Bloomington.
The Bloomington Fire Department says they were dispatched to the 2500 block of East Washington Street for a structure fire – several cars were burning next to a one-story apartment building.
While on scene firefighters faced some out-of-the-ordinary challenges.
According to a release, while extinguishing the fully involved pickup truck, the fuel tank spilled burning fuel onto the pavement.
Firefighters used handheld extinguishers, eventually laying down a foam blanket to suppress the burning fuel.
The apartment building sustained heat and water damage.
One person was displaced and did not require assistance.
There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
