LEROY – An Alton man is behind bars in McLean County for allegedly keeping a woman hostage in LeRoy over the weekend.
According to a news release, LeRoy police responded to a domestic violence situation after a resident alerted a friend to send the police for help.
Police say Michael Stokich, 35, allegedly took a woman’s lawfully owned handgun and kept her from leaving her apartment.
McLean County prosecutors charged Stokich with aggravated unlawful restraint, firearm possession by a felon, and aggravated assault with a firearm.
Stockich remains in the McLean County jail, and no bond information is available.
