NORMAL – Illinois State University says two cases of sexual assault and one case of sexual abuse this week occurred in different locations with different suspects, and are unrelated.
In a crime advisory sent to campus and posted to the Illinois State University Police Department’s Facebook page Tuesday, Illinois State Police say they received a report of a sexual assault, which occurred in Cardinal Court, and a sexual abuse which occurred in Watterson Towers. Those were reported on Monday, August 29th.
On Tuesday, August 30th, ISU Police received another report of a sexual assault in Watterson Towers, which was reported over the weekend.
ISU Police have arrested one suspect, and the other cases are under investigation by ISU Police and/or Title IX.
Police say if you have experienced an incident of sexual assault/misconduct, dating/domestic violence, or stalking, you are encouraged to get help, regardless of when the incident occurred. Students are encouraged to contact Title IX to request any services, protective measures, or interim measures needed.
