SPRINGFIELD – The state’s latest high-profile retiree says … it’s time.
“If you were 78 years old,” says Illinois Supreme Court Chief Justice Anne Burke, “and you had been working since you were fifteen or going to school and raising a family of five, you would think, maybe it’s time to take some sculpting classes, or something in philosophy, or things like that.”
It’s an end of sixteen years on the state’s highest court, effective next month.
And in an interview with WJBC News, Burke did not want to talk about the legal problems surrounding her husband, Chicago Ald. Ed Burke.
Of him, she shared: “I require him to say, ‘Yes, Your Honor.’ when i tell him to take the garbage out.”
