McLean County Chamber highlighting labor market in the twin-cities

BLOOMINGTON – McLean County is adding jobs left and right thanks to the help of major corporations moving to the twin cities.

As Rivian automotive eclipses over 5,000 people employed, McLean County Chamber of Commerce CEO Charlie Moore said there is always room for more hiring.

“We have an opportunity where we have a lot of new people moving to Bloomington-Normal and a lot of trailing spouses,” he said on the afternoon show. “And we want to provide an opportunity for those trailing spouses to also recognize that there’s a lot of opportunities for the skills and talents that they bring to our community.

And how do we make those introductory opportunities so that they can see what those opportunities look like.”

To help fill the void of the labor market, Moore said the Chamber is hosting job fairs around the community, with the next one on October 25 at the new YMCA in Bloomington.

“It really is a way for us to bring people together, to look for ways not only to expand and grow a career but to fill a void they may be looking for,” Moore added.

The Oct. job fair is at 202 St Joseph Dr., in Bloomington, and runs from 4 – 7 p.m.
