FLORIDA – Florida residents are beginning to see the storm damage from category 4 Hurricane Ian.

“It has been crazy just the last two days after the Hurricane has hit to really see the damage that has done,” Julie Martin, a Ft. Myers resident, said on the afternoon show. “The places that you know I visit weekly, like the beach and some of the restaurants, are completely devastated; they are a total loss. These buildings are leveled, these homes are leveled, it’s something like I’ve never seen before.”

As of Friday afternoon, almost two million people were without power, as the death toll continues to rise.

“We knew we were going to get hit by a Hurricane, but we didn’t know it was going to be a category 4, and we didn’t know it was going to hit us directly,” added Martin. I still think a lot of people are still trying to wrap their heads around that and just taking in the devastation; it still doesn’t feel real yet. A lot of people are trying to rally together at this time.”

According to multiple reports, 12 people were killed in the Hurricane, with many unaccounted.
