BLOOMINGTON – A 21-year-old Normal man is facing multiple weapon charges after a shooting over the weekend.
Around 1:15 a.m. Sunday morning, Bloomington Police were conducting a foot patrol in the downtown bar district when they heard shots fired.
Police say officers observed a male allegedly concealing a firearm near E. St. and Douglas St.
McLean County prosecutors charged Terry Powell, 21, with reckless discharge of a firearm, firearm with no foid card, and illegal possession of ammunition.
“The speed and efficiency in which the suspect was taken into custody was imperative in keeping our community safe,” said Bloomington Police Chief Jamal Simington. “The BPD will remain diligent in our partnership with our community to enhance the quality of life in Bloomington.”
There were no injuries in the incident, and the case remains under investigation.
