Suspect arrested, charged in connection with Pub II crash

NORMAL – Normal Police say a man has been arrested and charged in connection with a crash that injured two Illinois State University students September 15.

Police say Aidan McCain, 20, was driving northbound on Linden Street “at an extremely high rate of speed” and lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle then left the road at the northeast corner of the intersection and struck students Carson Bates and Michael Burns near Pub II, according to police.

McCain was arrested earlier Monday and charged with aggravated reckless driving.

Both Bates and Burns are still in the hospital and recovering from their injuries.
