NORMAL – Illinois State University’s Redbird Arena will soon be getting a new name.
ISU’s governing board will vote Friday on a naming rights and sponsorship agreement to rename Redbird Arena to “CEFCU Arena.”
CEFCU will pay ISU athletics approximately $3.1 million over ten years for the naming rights for Redbird Arena, “in addition to certain related sponsorship and hospitability opportunities,” according to university staff.
Redbird Arena was built in 1989 and is home to ISU volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball and gymnastics. In addition, Redbird Arena hosts many university, campus, and community events each year including university commencement ceremonies, the Gamma Phi Circus, and a variety of Illinois High School Association events.
ISU trustees will meet Friday at 9 a.m. in the Bone Student Center Old Main Room.
