Bloomington man jailed in connection to July stabbing in Normal

BLOOMINGTON – A 24-year-old Bloomington man is in the McLean County jail on attempted murder charges in connection with a stabbing that took place in Normal in late July.

Normal Police say Zhane McGill was arrested after a lengthy investigation by its Patrol and Investigative Division, along with collaboration from the McLean County State’s Attorney Office.

On July 29th, Normal Police were called to Charlotte Drive after a report of a man who was stabbed.

The victim was later found with Police finding a stab wound to the victim’s back and bruising around the victim’s neck.

McGill faces charges of Attempted Murder, Aggravated Domestic Battery, Aggravated Battery/Great Bodily Harm, and Aggravated Battery/Use of a Deadly Weapon.

Chief Steve Petrilli says in a statement that all charges will be reviewed by the McLean County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Police add McGill was located with the assistance of the Bloomington Police and the US Marshalls Fugitive Task Force.
