Bloomington murder suspect arrested in East Peoria

EAST PEORIA – A year after a deadly shooting in Bloomington, police have arrested a suspect.

A McLean County grand jury on Wednesday Jaylin S. Bones, 22, for the shooting death on Jan. 24, 2022 of Timothy Q. Manns. The 29-year-old man was found shot to death in an apartment in the 600 block of West Jefferson Street, near North Oak Street, on the city’s west side.

This was first of five homicides in Bloomington last year.

A day after the grand jury returned indictments, members of the U.S. Marshal’s Great Lakes Regional Task Force arrested Bones without incident at an East Peoria business, Bloomington Police said in a news release.

The grand jury charged Bones with four counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted first-degree murder involving the same victim and aggravated battery with a firearm.

Bones is jailed on $2 million bond. To be released, he would have to pay 10% of the bond, which is $200,000.

Bones’ first court appearance is scheduled Friday at 12:45 p.m.
