NORMAL – The Normal Fire Department responded to a kitchen a fire Thursday afternoon at 1806 Truman Drive.
Firefighters were called to the home in the Greenbriar subdivision around 3:30 p.m., where they found heavy smoke in the kitchen.
According to a news release, fire crews were able to control the blaze within 10 minutes.
Firefighters searched the home and rescued two pet guinea pigs in their cage.
There were no injuries reported and a dollar estimate of damage is not available.
The heaviest fire damage was in the kitchen, with heat and smoke damage extending throughout the first floor and water damage in the kitchen extending into the lower level.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Normal Fire Department.
