Lambert to become next principal of Bloomington Junior High School

BLOOMINGTON – Messina Lambert will be named the next principal of Bloomington Junior High School, pending District 87 School Board approval this month. Lambert currently serves as the principal of Irving School.

“It was not a desire to leave the Irving principalship that is leading to my transition to BJHS, rather, I have the desire to make a greater positive impact on the students of District 87,” said Lambert in a news release.

Lambert began her career in education in 2000. She taught 2nd, 4th, and 5th grades at Sheridan School, and 5 years ago moved into the principal leadership role at Irving School.

“We are excited to have Ms. Lambert join the outstanding team of teachers and administrators at BJHS. Ms. Lambert brings experience, a track record of success, and a passion for our D87 community to the position. We are excited to begin working with her in her new role,” said District 87 Superintendent Dr. David Mouser.

A District 87 alumnus herself, Lambert attended Sheridan School, Bloomington Junior High School, and graduated from Bloomington High School.

She attended Illinois State University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education (2000), her Masters in Curriculum & Instruction (2009), and her Masters in Educational Administration and Foundations (2018).

This past year, Lambert was named the YWCA Woman of Distinction in Business/Education for 2022.
