TAZEWELL COUNTY – Two Republican primary candidates are seeking to be the next auditor for Tazewell County: William C. Funkhouser and Keden Nelms. 

Funkhouser is an executive in residence for the Department of Economics and Finance at Bradley University.  Prior to that, he was an executive for Bank One Peoria, including serving in the offices of president and city executive. He also has been a consultant for several area institutions. He has a master’s degree from the University of Illinois and a bachelor’s from Millikin. 

For Funkhouser, the key goals are to improve professionalism within the auditor’s office both in terms of effectiveness and efficiency, ensure the office complies with statutory requirements and provide board members with accurate and insightful financial reports. 

Nelms is a lab technician for Sandbridge Crafted Foods. He has been a member of the Tazewell County Board for District 1 since 2022. He attends Illinois Central College.
