McLean County Jury Commission warning local residents of jury duty scam

BLOOMINGTON – The McLean County Jury Commission wants residents to be aware of scams regarding jury duty.

According to the Commission, scammers targeted those who have served on jury duty in the past via phone.

Once on the phone, scammers use threats of intimidation and the threat of a warrant being issued to release personal information, including credit card information.

The Commission reports the Circuit Court or the McLean County Sheriff’s Office will not threaten to arrest those for failing to appear for jury duty over the phone.

Those whom the scammers have contacted are encouraged to report the number to the McLean County Sheriff’s Office.
