BLOOMINGTON – A local superintendent plans to remain the leader of District 87 for another four years.
At last week’s school board meeting, board members approved a new four-year contract with Dr. David Mouser.
Dr. Mouser, who ends the second year of his current contract at the end of the school year, looked back at his first two years with the district.
“You have to listen to folks around you,” Dr. Mouser told WJBC’s Scott Miller. “Because when you set in, come from a smaller school like I did. You know, a lot of times you are making all those decisions.
It took me a while to recognize that. This is about delegating; it’s also about listening to those around you who are really good at their positions. If I had to go back, I probably would have spent more time listening, but I do that a lot in my life.”
Under the new contract, Dr. Mouser will be paid 222,000 with the contract beginning July 1.
Dr. Mouser replaced former Superintendent Barry Reilly, who retired at the end of the 2022 school year.
