SPRINGFIELD – Illinois’ Prisoner Review Board has been under fire – most recently for this year’s release of a Chicago convict who allegedly killed an eleven-year-old boy the day after his release.
State Rep. Kelly Cassidy (D-Chicago) wants to make changes around the board.
“The biggest piece (of the bill), frankly, will be a very robust task force to look at all of the interchanging, interlocked issues,” said Cassidy. “For example, we’ve got multiple witness notification systems in this state. They don’t necessarily work with each other. We want to make suire we are getting every victim all the information they need.”
In Chicago earlier this year, Crosetti Brand allegedly went after a pregnant ex-girlfriend and her son.
HB 681 has passed the House, 106-0, and goes to the Senate.
