SPRINGFIELD – A president in office is trying to make progress. A convicted felon running against him is trying to make bail.
That’s how Gov. JB Pritzker sized up the candidates Monday to a national cable television audience on MSNBC.
A frequent Biden surrogate, Pritzker told host Jen Psaki – a former Biden press secretary – Donald Trump is “a racist, a misogynist, a homophobe, and a xenophobe” who does not represent the values of American families.
Referring to Trump supporters who have seemingly intensified their voices since the former president’s hush-money convicted last week, the governor said, “They should begin by renouncing the violence and the jailing that President Trump is calling for. You have heard a lot of his supporters calling for either the death penalty or jailing of people who do not support Donald Trump, and it is divisive, What they are doing now is taking sides with Donald Trump.
“That is the part that I think is un-American.”
