Normal Police are adding extra patrols through July 4

NORMAL – Independence Day is approaching, and Normal Police plans to beef up traffic enforcement for the July Fourth celebrations.

NPD plans to partner with Illinois State Police and over two hundred other local police and sheriff’s departments in a statewide drive sober or get pulled over campaign.

NPD Community Engagement Officer Brad Park said extra patrols begin June 21 and run through July 8.

To have a safe holiday, NPD said to designate a sober driver, prevent friends from driving drunk or high, and report suspected drunk drivers.

The Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign is made possible through federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
