SPRINGFIELD – Illinois’ Climate and Equitable Jobs Act is entering a new phase: granting two organizations to operate “pre-apprenticeship” programs.
CEJA is about promoting clean energy and the state’s workforce. The 548 Foundation will administer the workforce program in northern Illinois, while HIRE360 will do so in the southern two-thirds.
“We are fostering economic growth and ensuring that all benefits of the clean energy economy are accessible to everyone,” said Chicago deputy mayor Kenya Merritt, “and this initiative not only supports our city’s environmental goals but also promotes social equity and economic resilience in all of our neighborhoods.”
