Political days at the Illinois State Fair are over

SPRINGFIELD – Once Thursday’s midday rain cleared, Illinois Republicans took the stage for their day at the Illinois State Fair. And a member of the Trump Cabinet was there to fire them up.

Former acting attorney general Matt Whitaker said, “We’re in a honeymoon period with Kamala Harris. The left is so excited that they have a candidate with a pulse. That’s a fairly low bar. We have a president in Donald Trump who not only has a pulse; he has a fire inside of him to save this country.”

House Minority Leader Tony McCombie (R-Savanna) made fun of the supermajority party. “Democrats want non citizens and felons – I’m sorry, I mean “justice impacted individuals” – to vote.”

As if knowing you are about to make the obvious point, at least one person in the crowd wore a shirt saying, “I’m Voting for the Convicted Felon” with a picture of Trump.
