LEWISTOWN, Ill. — An employee of Farmington Central Elementary School was charged Tuesday after she tried to solicit a child for sex.

According to charging documents from the city clerk’s office, prosecutors charged Kelli Miller, 39, of Farmington, after she tried to engage in sexual conduct with a minor who was between the ages of 13 and 17. Miller is facing up to five years in prison if convicted.

Farmington Central District Superintendent Zac Chatterton said there was no correlation between what she was charged with and the school as of Tuesday afternoon.

Chatterson said Miller is a classroom aide at the school and assists teachers as they are working. He said she is currently on leave from her position. He did not say if it was paid or unpaid leave.

Miller was released from the Fulton County Jail on Monday and is prohibited from drinking alcohol or being around children, except for those in her own family, as part of her conditions for release.

According to a Facebook post, the police department received a tip on Sunday that a member of Farmington Central Elementary staff was suspected of trying to solicit a child for sex at their home.

The department said they would not release any other information.

Miller will appear in court on Sept. 9, according to the Fulton County Circuit Clerk’s Office.
