Tazewell County Sheriff issues alert for missing and endangered Manito man

TAZEWELL COUNTY – A 67-year-old Manito man is listed as missing and endangered, according to an alert issued Thursday morning by the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office.  

The office said Arthur D. Bechtel was last seen on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the vicinity of Spring Lake, specifically the intersection of Helmig Lane and Airport Road. His vehicle was found at the intersection of Airport Road and North Manito Road. 

He is described as being 5-foot-10 and 190 pounds with sandy colored hair and brown eyes.  He was wearing blue jeans and a light blue shirt.

The office said Bechtel could be suffering from mental health issues or confusion; he has wandered in the past.
