Red Cross says blood donations are “Critically Needed”

PEORIA – The American Red Cross is asking for people to help donate blood, platelets and plasma to those affected by recent hurricanes.

The Red Cross said in a news release that blood and platelet donations are “critically needed” to help restore their supplies.

The recent storms and their aftermath have forced more than 100 blood drives to be cancelled in affected regions which are crucial areas for helping keep the Red Cross’ blood and platelet supply stocked.

The Red Cross is also helping provide relief like water, food, and shelter to those affected by the recent hurricanes and request donations to help them continue this work. If you would like to help by donating click here.

Everyone who donates blood, platelets or plasma in October will receive a electronic $10 Amazon gift card. People who donate will also be entered for a chance to win one of three $5,000 gift cards.
