Police peacefully de-escalate domestic disturbance incident in Normal

NORMAL – Officers peacefully de-escalated a domestic disturbance situation Thursday afternoon in Normal.

Police were called around 1:29 p.m. to the 1500 block of Northbrook Drive. Authorities said the caller reported a suspect in the home was armed with a gun.

Normal police established a perimeter in the area and began communication with the individual. Just after 7 p.m., officers were able to successfully de-escalate the situation and take custody of the individual without incident.

No injuries were reported and police said the case involves a juvenile suspect.

Members of the Normal Police Department Crisis Negotiation Team, Illinois State University Police, and State Police all assisted at the scene.
