NORMAL – Normal residents now have the chance to help document changing landscapes throughout the town thanks to some recently installed photo stations.
The town’s parks and recreation team are partnering with Chronolog, which captures time lapses of sites over time.
The process works by having the community put their phones in the station’s cradle and taking a picture of the site.
Then, they can email their photo to the address on the station, which will collect the various images and create a collection of photos taken over time that will show how the site has changed over that span.
Doug Damery, the director of parks and recreation for Normal, hopes the community comes out to support.
“Get to know our park sights a little bit better, the kinds of things we’re doing, the progress on the things that we’re doing like the skate park and so forth. I think it’s really cool to see the change in surroundings when you come out to a park site,” he said.
Sites include the new skate park being constructed in Fairview Park, the disc golf course at Maxwell Park, and the Route 66 sign at One Normal Plaza.
Damery said some stations will be permanent, but some may be temporary. One station, which is planned to be constructed at Fire Station 2, still needs to be set up. The other nine have already been completed.
