BLOOMINGTON – Voters on Tuesday flipped the majority on the McLean County Board in the favor of Democrats.
For the District 4 seat, incumbent Democrat Jim Rogal defeated Republican Jerry Klinkner. In District 5, Democrats Elizabeth Johnston and Buck Farley both won their respective races. Johnston was the incumbent and defeated Chad Berck. Farley was able to unseat incumbent Republican Randy Knapp.
Democrat Val Laymon was able to defend her District 7 seat against Republican David Dunn. Incumbent Democrat Eric Hansen beat challenger Gary Stevens in District 8. And Democrat Sean Fagan was able to unseat incumbent Republican Susan Schafer in District 9.
Republicans Mike O’Neil, Brian Loeffler and Mark Clauss were able to win their races in District 2, 3 and 10. They defeated Democrats Raul Martinez, Rob Ogborn and Erica Larkin.
McLean County Democrats now hold a 12-8 majority on the county board for the first time ever.
