BLOOMINGTON – A 27-year-old woman is the victim of Sunday night’s fatal accident on the city’s southeast side.
Officers responded to Fox Creek Road and Beich Road for a report of a car accident Sunday evening.
Initial reports indicate a sedan with two occupants was traveling westbound on Fox Creek Rd. when it collided with another sedan traveling eastbound on Fox Creek Rd.
The driver of the westbound sedan abandoned the vehicle and left the scene, but the passenger, a twenty-seven-year-old female, was transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
McLean County Corner Kathy Yoder reports Chakquia Echols, of Normal, died from multiple blunt injuries.
Michael Mitchell, the driver who allegedly left the scene, was found at a nearby apartment complex. Mitchell was arrested and later transported to the McLean County Detention Facility.
The crash remains under investigation by Bloomington Police and the McLean County Coroner’s Office.
