One Person injured in a 5-car crash in Tazewell County

TAZEWELL COUNTY – One person was hospitalized after a car on Interstate 155 lost control, causing a multi-car wreck.

The crash occurred just after noon on Saturday on Interstate 155 at mile marker 21, which is near Hopedale, according to the Illinois State Police.

The car heading northbound on I-155 lost control for unknown reasons and traveled into the southbound lane, where it caused a wreck with two other vehicles headed south. Debris struck two other vehicles, causing damage, they said.

Hopedale is a village of about 800 people located just over 20 miles southeast of Pekin.

State police said one person was sent to an area hospital with unspecified injuries.

The state police had no other immediate information.
