BLOOMINGTON – David Mouser, the superintendent with Bloomington School District 87, said the district was “deeply saddened” by events that happened over the weekend.

The student, whose name has not yet been released by the McLean County Coroner’s office, was in 8th grade, he said.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the student’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. We have implemented additional social emotional supports and counseling services for our students at the junior high and high school,” Mouser said. “We are working closely with the authorities, and we will continue to provide any necessary support to our students, staff, and community during this tragic time.”UPDATED: Four people found dead at a Bloomington house, police say

Bloomington police have released little information except to say that four people were found in a house in the 900 block of Lee Street which is near Bent Elementary School.

Sunday night, Bryce Janssen, a police spokesman, said “four people were pronounced deceased at the scene by the McLean County Coroner’s Office. Identification of the deceased will not be released until the next of kin are notified.”

On Monday morning, he reiterated the deaths were an “isolated” incident and there is no threat to the public.

However, he declined to release more information about the manner of death, how people learned of the deaths and who was killed. He said such information could come later after it is released by the McLean County Coroner’s Office.

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
