Phyllis Elaine Bean, 88, of Bloomington, passed away at 3:55 p.m. on Oct. 16 at her residence, surrounded by her family.
Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomington with Pastor Brian Goke officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington.
Interment will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Phyllis was born on May 7, 1927 in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, a daughter to Frank A. And Letha M. Morris Iverson. She married Lyle Wayne Bean on July 27, 1946 in Chicago. He preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 1989.
Surviving are her children, David W. (Roberta L.) Bean of Downs, Steven Eugene (Sharon) Bean of Pana, Rex Byron (Patti) Bean of Bloomington, Carrie A. Schenk of Bloomington, Susan C. (James) Thoennes of Bloomington, Gary L. Bean of Bloomington, Allen J. Bean of Bloomington, Teresa M. Long of Bloomington, Bonnie J. (Ski) Coone of Downs and Mark D. (Lori) Bean of Arrowsmith; 28 grandchildren; 30, and two expecting, great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and four step grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Lyle, Phyllis was preceded in death by her two sons, Paul and Brian; a brother, David E. Iverson and a sister, Doris M. Rossing.
Phyllis was raised on a dairy farm in Wisconsin. She devoted her life to her marriage and raising her children. In her later years, She enjoyed traveling in the United States with family and friends.
Phyllis donated to many charities. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
She became a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in 1955 and she was a member of the ELCA Abigail Circle Women’s Group.
The Bean family lost their ‘Queen”, she taught us the value of Family, Love and Togetherness. Although we can no longer hold you in our arms, we will forever hold all memories of you close to our hearts.
