CIRA to add 4th daily flight to Chicago

BLOOMINGTON – American Airlines will be experimenting with a fourth daily round-trip flight between Central Illinois Regional Airport and O’Hare Airport in Chicago.

CIRA spokeswoman Fran Strebing told WJBC’s Dan Swaney the flight will be added in November and will return in January and February.

“In December, the business travel knocks it down and then we see more leisure travelers and American has been very focused on the business traveler,” Strebing said. “We are hoping we still do well with it to American see it as a good investment.”

The additional incoming flight to CIRA is scheduled to arrive at 4:13 p.m. and the additional outgoing flight will depart at 4:45 p.m.

Starting in January, CIRA will have one of its daily Delta flights to Atlanta in a larger, 717 aircraft that had been flown by AirTran.

“It’s a good sign,” Strebing said. “Atlanta has always been a strong route for us.”
