Redbird, intercity hoops; Tri-Valley title game on WJBC

Two years after settling for second place, the Tri-Valley Vikings return to DeKalb with their sights set on redemption.

The 13-0 and No. 1-ranked Vikings play in the Class 2A state football championship against the Auburn Trojans (10-3) at Northern Illinois University’s Huskie Stadium.

Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Larry Duling and Eric Lapan will have the call on WJBC.com.

Illinois State plays its third game in four days when the Redbirds host Quincy today on Doug Collins Court at Redbird Arena. ISU (2-4) will try to return to the win column after dropping two straight at the Cancun Challenge, including a loss to No. 2 Maryland in which ISU led for more than 10 minutes. Quincy, an NCAA Division II opponent, enters the contest on a two-game winning streak.

Dick Luedke, Mike Matthews and studio host Tim Lewis will describe the action starting with Redbird Preview at 1 p.m. on WJBC 1230 AM, WJBC.com, the Country Financial Illinois Radio Network and the WJBC app.

The Illinois State women’s basketball team travels to San Antonio, Texas, over Thanksgiving break to participate in the four-team UTSA Thanksgiving Classic. ISU plays host UTSA at 4 p.m. today. Listen live with Zach Dietmeier on WJBC.com.

The Intercity Tournament resumes at Shirk Center. WJBC will have live coverage starting at 6 p.m. of Central Catholic vs. Normal Community, followed by Bloomington vs. Normal West. Eric Stock and Bryan Bloodworth will describe the action.
