BLOOMINGTON – There will be five candidates for a Bloomington City Council seat next year – and the incumbent isn't one of them.

The Bloomington Election Commission has announced there will be a primary on Feb. 24, following the filing of a write-in candidate – Daniel Metz.

The others who already filed were Ron Schultz,  Chip Frank, Jeremy Kelley and Amelia Buragas. Incumbent Judy Stearns is not seeking re-election.

The commission will consolidate six precincts into two polling sites for the primary. Voters will get a card in the mail telling them where they vote if it's not their usual location.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
