Robert L. Wetzel, 69, of Normal, passed away at 11:51 a.m., Friday, December 18, 2015 at Loyola University Hospital in Maywood, IL, following a courageous battle with liver disease.
His funeral will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 28, 2015 at Holy Trinity Church, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m., Sunday, December 27, 2015 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, Ohio or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Bob was born February 28, 1946 in Spangler, Pennsylvania, the son of William D. and Leona Shuss Wetzel, Sr. He married Marilyn J. Pecek on April 26, 1969 in Euclid, Ohio. She survives.
He is also survived by a daughter, Michelle M. Wetzel of Bloomington, a son, Robert S. (Holly) Wetzel of Minonk, one granddaughter, Jasmine D. Whitley of Bloomington; two great-grandchildren, Emiliano and Antonio; three brothers, William D. Wetzel, Jr. of England, Gene (Nancy) Wetzel and Joel Wetzel, both of Chardon, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Dawn Marie Wetzel and his parents.
Bob served in the Dominican Republic during Vietnam as a M.P. in the US Army from 1965-1967. He worked for Caterpillar as an operations supervisor for 32 years, retiring in 2000.
Bob was a registered organ donor and believed strongly in donation to help save lives. His family would appreciate your consideration to be an organ donor and carry on his wish.
Bob was a member of Holy Trinity Church in Bloomington and the Knights of Columbus in Pontiac. He loved his family and golf. Bob was a wonderful husband and a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all.
