The Illinois State men's basketball team returns home to continue Missouri Valley Conference play by hosting Drake Wednesday at 7 p.m. on Doug Collins Court at Redbird Arena.

ISU (8-6, 0-2 MVC) and DU (3-11, 0-2) are both aiming for their first MVC victories of the season, and the Redbirds are trying to extend a three-game winning streak versus the Bulldogs, which after sweeping Drake last year, became ISU's longest current streak against an MVC foe.

Dick Luedke, Mike Matthews and Tim Lewis will have the action on WJBC 1230 AM, WJBC.com, the Country Financial Illinois State Radio Network and the WJBC app.

Illinois Wesleyan seeks to bounce back from its first two-game losing streak since 2013 as the Titans visit Wheaton.

No. 22-ranked IWU and Wheaton are both looking to pull even in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin after dropping their openers.

The Titans haven't lost three in a row since 2009. Joel Swanson has the call from King Arena in Wheaton on WJBC.com.

Pritzker, recall another Illinois Governor who protested the incursion of armed federal personnel into the city.   Those federal troops, rather than calming, escalated the situation, leading to deaths and violence. Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
