Bloomington appoints new fire chief

BLOOMINGTON – There is a new man at the top of the ladder in the Bloomington Fire Department. 

Brian Mohr is a 24 year veteran of the Bloomington Fire Department and is now the new chief. He replaces MIke Kimmerling who retired last year.

Mohr has been the Assistant Chief and training officer since 2013. 

"I am pleased to announce Brian Mohr as the city's next fire chief," said City manager David Hales in a news release. "He brings a solid background of fire knowledge and leadership, which will contribute positively to the city. He is dedicated to serving our community and the fire profession and has the qualities to enhance the high-quality service, reputation and traditions of the Bloomington Fire Department."

Mohr also said in a news release he is "truly honored" to have the opportunity.

Mohr's first day as chief will be Monday.
