CHICAGO – McLean County Board Chairman Matt Sorensen’s initial court appearance on wire fraud charges has been delayed.
The U.S. District Court has confirmed that Sorensen’s arraignment was pushed back to Wednesday afternoon at the Dirksen Federal Building in Chicago. Court officials haven’t said why the hearing was delayed, but co-defendant Navdeep Arora is scheduled to appear in court at 2 p.m. Monday.
Sorensen faces five counts of wire fraud stemming from his time as a consultant with State Farm. The indictment accuses him of pocketing over $400,000 from multiple companies, including State Farm, for consultant work that was never actually performed.
