Alene F. Perkins, 84, of Fairbury, passed away at 1:10 p.m., Jan. 15 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at First United Methodist Church of Fairbury with the Pastor Floyd Blackard officiating. Burial will follow in Avoca Township Cemetery, rural Fairbury.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to Fairview Haven Retirement Community, First United Methodist Church of Fairbury or charity of donor’s choice.
Alene was born March 20, 1931 in rural Fairbury, the daughter of Christian Edward and Amelia (Metz) Zimmerman. She married Bob Perkins July 4, 1951 in Fairbury. Her husband, Bob survives in Fairbury.
Other survivors include three daughters, Linda Beckhoff of Farmer City; Patty (Gary) Hofmann and Bobbi Jo (Charlie) McKeon both of Fairbury; son in law, Brian Medendorp of Peoria; two sisters, Mary Ellen Nylander and twin sister, Arlene Walter both of Fairbury; 11 grandchildren; Andrew Medendorp, Sara Krzyzaniak, Kathryn Medendorp, Amy Dronby, Daniel Beckhoff, Amber Werts, Jennifer Whitfill, Janelle Henkel, Eric Hofmann, Chris McKeon, Kendra Smith and 12 great grandchildren.
Her parents, three brothers, three sisters and one daughter Debbie Medendorp preceded her in death.
Alene was a 1949 graduate of Forrest High School. She was employed at the National Bank of Fairbury as a bookkeeper for nearly 30 years. In retirement she worked at Bloomington High School and enjoyed volunteering at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
