The Illinois State women’s basketball team returns to Redbird Arena for the second-straight weekend, as the Redbirds welcome Northern Iowa at 7:05 p.m. before hosting Drake, Sunday, at 2:05 p.m., for the fifth-annual Play4Kay game.

Mary Sims led Illinois State to its first victory of the season, as the Redbirds defeated Loyola by a score of 72-56. Sims finished with a game- and career-high 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field, and a perfect 7-for-7 showing from the line.

Zach Dietmeier and China Antoine have the call on WJBC 1230 AM, WJBC.com and the WJBC app.

Tim Lewis will host Sportstalk at 6.

The first pitch of the Illinois State softball season is almost here. The Redbirds are set for five games in three days in Tampa, Fla., to open the season, beginning with Jacksonville at 12:15 p.m. The Redbirds will play host South Florida at 5:30 p.m.

For the first time since 2010, the Illinois State softball team is coming off of a losing season. The Redbirds finished 25-27 last year against the most difficult non-conference schedule in the country. ISU played 11 games against ranked opponents, including four against top-five teams.

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
