BLOOMINGTON – Illionis Wesleyan had a chance to clinch a share of their 30th College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin championship with a win over Augustana.
Augie made sure there would be no such celebration at Shirk Center.
The Vikings jumped out to a 16-5 lead and never surrendered control in a 82-56 win over the Titans that forces a tie for the top spot in the league.
Augue led by as many as 12 in the first half, connecting on 4 of 5 three-points attempts and finished 7 of 11 for the game.
Wesleyan, which made 8 of 13 threes in its win at No. 1 Augustana on Jan. 21, managed just 9 of 26 from beyond the arc and seemed a step off all night.
Ben Ryan led five Vikings in double figures with 12 points. Alec Bausch had game highs of 10 points and seven rebounds for IWU.
Wesleyan (17-6, 9-3 in the CCIW) visits North Park on Saturday.
