NORMAL – New charges have been filed against Joshua Dunn, the man accused of striking and killing Benjamin Allison with his car in January.

The new charges for Dunn are leaving the scene of an accident involving a death and aggravated driving under the influence of marijuana. The previous charge was leaving the scene of an accident.

Dunn allegedly struck Allison on Jan. 24 while Allison was walking in a crosswalk at the intersection of College and Fell Avenues in Normal. The State's Attorney's office says Dunn, 21, previously admitted to consuming alcohol at a party the night before the crash. He was driving home from the party at the time of the crash.

Dunn's arraignment is scheduled for Friday. His attorney has filed a motion to reduce Dunn's $75,000 bond, and a hearing on that motion will be held Feb. 17.

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
