Radio Bloomington St. Jude Radiothon raises $86,346

BLOOMINGTON – The two-day long Radio Bloomington St. Jude Radiothon resulted in $86,346being raised for St. Jude Children's Reasearch Hospital. That total breaks last year's mark of more than $82,000.

Some of the funds stay in Central Illinois to benefit St. Jude's Midwest affiliate in Peoria, Children's Hospital of Illinois. St. Jude Regional Development Director Bekah Abbott said any money raised is important.

"The awareness that this radio station brings is amazing, so anything that we do is a success and a step in the right direction for St. Jude," she said.

Abbott added radiothons are extremely important for St. Jude.

"It really focuses on our mission, which is 'Finding Cures and Saving Children,'" said Abbott. "We couldn't do this without individual contributors, which is you."

Abbott thanked everyone who donated throughout the radiothon. She said the donations will help St. Jude continue its fight against childhood cancer.
